In a June 7, 2012 article published at Daily Mail, UFO expert and former investigator for the UK Ministry of Defense and the UFO Project, Nick Pope, warns that the 2012 Olympic Games, to be held in London, could be tempting target for UFOs and their alien occupants. Pope is a frequent guest on Coast to Coast AM, where he shares his research into UFOs, alien abductions, crop circles and other extraterrestrial phenomena.
In the Daily Mail article, Pope warns:
“'With the summer of mass events we are all on high alert for terrorism. But we must also cast our eyes further afield and be prepared for even the most seemingly unfathomable.''
Initially skeptical when he first entered the MoD, Pope's investigations of various UFO incidents and his access to government files soon convinced him that there's more to the story than our governments would have us believe. In fact, because so many reports were filed by military pilots or were backed up with radar tracking, Pope feels important national security issues should be addressed immediately.
During his Coast to Coast AM appearance on August 10, 2010, Pope responded to new information becoming available as Britain continued to release UFO files that had previously been classified. One news item reported that Winston Churchill covered up reports of UFO activity, fearing mass panic in the UK. Pope pointed out that it was merely an allegation at that time, and there was no substantiating evidence.
Yet, just 2 days ago he had this statement for the Daily News:
“It has been a widely held belief in Ministry of Defense circles that 'aliens' have been able to detect us for decades via TV and radio broadcasts.”
“What once seemed like science fiction is steadily being realized by central governing bodies as distinctly real.”
“If aliens have studied our psychology, they may choose to appear in our skies on a significant date – the closing ceremony of the Olympic Games is one date being widely circulated by conspiracy groups.”
“The atomic bombs detonated in the 1940s, and the rocket technology since developed would unquestionably have alerted nearby alien civilizations to our existence.”
“On their arrival it is difficult to say what they would do: explore, help or destroy. Our resources make us quite a special threat.”
It's interesting to note that during the annual Coast to Coast AM Predictions Show on December 31, 2011, a caller named Jonathon actually predicted, “There will be a staged alien invasion during the Summer Olympics.”
Not one to be labeled a fear-monger, Pope's done more than his fair share of debunking. During his Coast to Coast AM appearance on April 17, 2010, he gave a thumbs down to video showing two fighter jets chasing what appears to be a UFO over Britain's M5 motorway, saying it was more than likely a CGI hoax.
His willingness to cry foul rather than add fuel to the ever-increasing conspiracy theory fires lends even more credence to his following warning:
“Aliens may possess weapons or advanced technology we’ve no idea of. Aliens may have invisibility, a death ray, teleportation, force fields and other things we can't even guess at.”
“Beyond this, unity is key, but as history dictates, this is not so easy.”
“The logical course is to unite the world against the alien threat, combining our military strength and fighting under the United Nations. But some countries might not fight.”
“We saw this type of treachery and cowardice in the Second World War. Though some brave people joined the Resistance, much of France accepted Nazi occupation.”
“The final and perhaps biggest flaw is preparation. With the summer of mass events we are all on high alert for terrorism. But we must also cast our eyes further afield and be prepared for even the most seemingly unfathomable."
